Hair fall is becoming one of the most common problems. The most common reasons for hair fall are poor diet, polluted environment and unhealthy lifestyle.
However the most important thing here is not to worry about our polluted environment (which we almost have polluted it to an extent that it cannot be bought back to its original state) – rather, we have to focus on ways to prevent hair fall – that’s probable the wise way to look at it.
OK, you comb your hair and your comb comes back with a bunch of strands. Sounds familiar?
This doesn’t just happen on days you wash your hair with shampoo, but everyday. Is that so?
You are not alone!
There are thousands of women and men who face this problem. Losing hair makes your hair look thin in volume; for some it soon leads to bald head which is not something anyone would be happy about.
So without further delay I’m gonna dive right in to provide you with natural remedies that you can do at home by yourself.
Since these are natural ways, you don’t have to worry about the “side effect” by and large.
Nevertheless, do your own research to get to know if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the recipes given below.
#1 Hot oil massage
Whenever you hear about hair fall, the most popular remedy you get to hear is hot oil massage – and I must say, it does work.
Actually it doesn’t matter which type of oil you use – you have to go for a natural oil.
The best choices are natural coconut oil, olive oil (extra virgin), or jojoba oil. You can either use any one oil or a mixture of two or more oils.
Just take the oil(s) in a cup, heat it so that the oil becomes warm but not hot; use the oil to massage your scalp.
To uniformly and mildly heat the oil, you have to boil some water in a saucepan and put the bowl with oil in it.
Make sure you run your fingers through your hair to reach the scalp and let your fingers massage your scalp (in circular motion). This improves blood flow and also enriches the roots of the hair with the oil.
Doing a hot oil massage once a week arrests hair fall pretty fast!
#2 Coconut milk
While coconut oil helps arresting hair fall, coconut milk enriches your hair with the nutrients thus not only preventing hair fall but also enhancing hair growth and giving your hair a smooth and glowing texture.
Coconut milk also acts as a great conditioner. Grate required amount of coconut, put it in a blender, blend and then squeeze using hands and filter to extract the milk.
Take a cup of coconut milk and apply it to your scalp.
Do not leave out the hair. Generously apply the milk through your hair as well.
Now put on a shower cap and leave it for about 2 hours. Wash off the milk with a mild shampoo and you won’t need a conditioner.
#3 Fenugreek seeds
Fenugreek is well known to promote hair growth and to prevent hair fall. You can treat your hair with Fenugreek seeds.
Soak Fenugreek seeds in water overnight, put the soaked seeds along with the same water in a blender and grind to make a smooth paste.
Apply this pasty (sticky) mixture to your scalp and leave it to seep in. Let the mixture sit on your hair for at least an hour and then rinse off with a mild shampoo.
Doing this once a week will ensure that your scalp stays cool and moisturized. Not just that, this will nourish your scalp and roots and will put a check to hair fall.
An additional benefit is that this treatment also eradicates dandruff!
#4 Olive Oil
I briefly mentioned Olive Oil in hot oil massage. But the benefits of Olive Oil are far far better that I have to tell a bit more about this natural wonder, a.k.a “Liquid Gold”.
Olive oil can do wonders for your hair. Its primary benefit is to moisturize your hair and scalp. However it can extremely do well with arresting hair fall when used regularly.
Nourish your hair with olive oil at least once a week. The procedure is pretty simple. Warm Olive oil so that its just warm and not hot.
Apply it on your scalp and run your fingers through your hair. Massage your hair for 5-10 minutes as you would do with any hot oil massage.
Now pick up a wide tooth comb and comb your hair so that the oil spreads all over the scalp AND also over your hair. Now tie your hair up, cover it with shower cap and leave it for 30 mins to an hour.
Then wash with your regular shampoo.
Now I know many of you will complain about the greasy feel. But I’ve done it many times on my hair and I just wash it off once – I’ve never found my hair to be greasy.
But don’t take my word for granted, though! If you’re scared that your hair would look greasy, try this out on a weekend. You should be fine.
Hope I have given you quite some useful tips in this post. If you know any other tips other than these, feel free to share them in the comments below.
