Who said you can’t bake a cake? Who said you need an oven to make a cake.

Let’s prove those wrong. And we don’t need any fancy ingredients to make this yummy eggless banana cake!

Eggless Banana Cake Ingredients

Ripe Bananas | வாழைப்பழம் – 2

Maida / All purpose flour | மைதா – 1 cup + 2 tablespoons

Sugar | சக்கரை – 3/4 cup Cinnamon powder | பட்டை பொடி– 3/4 tablespoon

Baking soda | சமையல் சோடா – 1/2 tablespoon

Salt | உப்பு – 1/4 tablespoon

Curd | தயிர் – 3 tablespoons

Milk | பால் – 1/2 cup

Butter | வெண்ணெய் – 2 tablespoons

Choco chips/chocolate bits | சோக்கோ சிப்ஸ் – 1 tablespoon

Almonds/walnuts/any nuts | பாதாம் – about 10

Banana Cake Recipe

In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup + 2 tablespoons maida/all purpose flour.

Add 1/2 tablespoon baking soda, 1/4 tablespoon salt, 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 tablespoon cinnamon powder to it. Mix well.

In another bowl, drop the chopped bananas and mash them roughly with a fork.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and add to the bananas. Give it a mix.

Add 3 tablespoons of curd/yoghurt, mix and add the flour mixture to this.

Give a good mix and add 1/2 cup milk. Mix again.

Add about a tablespoon of choco chips. Or if you don’t have that, you can add bits of any chocolate that you have.

Mix again.

Add in about 10 almonds, or walnuts or any nuts of your choice, and give a brief mix.

Grease the pan of your choice with butter and little maida.

Pour in the cake batter.

In a pressure cooker, pour 4 cups water, and place an empty vessel in water.

Place the cake pan over the vessel. Cover the cooker with the lid and cook in sim for 1 hour 30 mins WITHOUT gasket and whistle.

Open the cooker after 1 hr 30 mins and remove the cake pan from the cooker.

Set aside for 2 mins.

Now, slightly separate/loosen the cake from the pan along the edges using a knife.

Invert it to a plate, and again invert the cake to another plate.

Make slices and enjoy!
