Beetroot Halwa Recipe: Ingredients
2 Cups tightly packed grated beetroot
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Milk
7-9 Teaspoons Ghee
1/4 Teaspoon Cardamom powder
Cashews, Raisins – About 10 each.
Beetroot Halwa Recipe
Wash, peel and grate beetroots. We will need 2 cups tightly packed.
In a pan, add 2 teaspoons ghee. Once it is warm, add 10 Cashews and fry. Once they turn slightly brown, add 10 raisins and fry.
Set them aside.
In the same pan, add one more teaspoon of ghee and add the grated beetroot.
Saute for about 10 mins in low flame.
Meanwhile, in a pan, pour 1 cup milk and make it warm.
Add the warm milk to the beetroot and stir for 10 more minutes.
Once about half of the milk is absorbed, add 1/2 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons of ghee.
Stir for 2-3 minutes and add 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder.
Mix well keep stirring until all of the milk is absorbed and the halwa becomes somewhat dry with oil leaving the sides. At this stage, add 2 teaspoons of ghee.
Mix and add the fried cashews and raisins. Give it a nice mix and turn off the stove once the halwa reaches the desired consistency.
Enjoy it warm or cold depending upon your mood!
